Spatial Projects SQL (spatialSQL)
Version 1.82
for MapInfo Professional®
Now Free Use
Advanced spatial query and update
-
Release of v1.82. This version is released as a patch zip file to replace the installed
spatialsql.mbx.
- Version 1.82 is now free use for all functions.
Version 1.81, Mar 20, 2007
-
A new Label Fix button performs the same
operation as the visibility re-map update
operator.
-
Fix to region geometric properties – “geosqlid not updated”.
-
3.
_lc _rc _pc (vis cent, rgn props) now saved after calculation.
Version 1.80, Jan 30, 2006
-
Release of v1.80. Enhancements to registration program.
-
(Beta 02) Memory leak in sputil.dll corrected. Invalid region (zero area) was
causing floating point error – corrected.
-
(Beta 01) Region geometric centroid, smart
centroid and aligned labels added. A Beta period will be used to allow
testing of the new functions on a variety of data sets. The mitab (http://mitab.maptools.org)
library has been used for the first time in this revision. sputil.dll is a new
dll performing the region property calculations.
Version 1.76, Oct 17, 2005
-
Parallel Arc
added to function pad.
-
Some corrections to function pad, line buffer.
-
Extensions to help file.
-
Automatic and manual check for software updates added as an option on the
registration dialogue.
Version 1.72, Jul 06, 2005
-
Registration dialogue now provides the facility to transfer SpatialSQL
registration to another PC, without needing to call Spatial Projects. Useful
when upgrading to new hardware or at a change of responsibilities.
-
Correction to Line Buffer menu item which wasn’t calling the correct
function.
Version 1.71, May 08, 2005
-
Corrected a problem during startup that may have caused an immediate or
subsequent MapInfo crash. Current version tested on Win/XP and MapInfo 7.8 .
-
Line Buffer table 2 set to mirror table 1. Previously not
happening by default.
-
Various help file improvements.
-
Fix to layer order after free ends
query (now underneath target layer).
-
Pause after each Sequence option added to Batch SQL.
Version 1.70, Apr 26, 2005
-
(Free use) function button pad added containing line buffer, visual centroid,
default centroid, median line, reverse line functions.
-
The buffer properties direction qualifier and any object – square end
have been provided specifically as free function pad options. Median Line end
is only available during trial period or in the registered application (it
requires line topology clean to function).
-
Menu item show/hide spatialSQL button pad
was not working previously – fixed.
-
Data checking has been improved and added to the Check SQL Syntax button.
(previously ran at the start of a query only).
Version 1.61 Nov 24, 2004
-
Preferences extended to include 4 colour shading.
-
4 Colour Region Shading update operator added.
-
API help extended to incude all menu items and functions.
-
Correction to help file to fix missing links and pictures.
Version 1.52, Oct 09, 2004
-
Labelling preferences extended. All Object Label Map Analysis now
allows Symbols, Lines, Regions to be selected independently.
-
Enhanced search performs a more thorough search of available
space.
-
Default offset allows a points offset to be set for layers with a
default value of zero in layer control.
-
Max offset depth defines the number of steps away from the
default offset to search for available label space.
-
Label re-map fixes for non-earth projection.
-
Minor improvements to visual centroid calculation.
 |
Advanced spatial operators include within distance, beyond
distance, within and beyond distance, disjoint, free ends, equal, touch, touch
ends, touch edge. |
 |
Update operators include:
combine,
direction same,
delete both,
delete one,
snap, split lines,
median lines,
label visibility re-map,
4 colour region shading.
|
 |
Function pad provides (as free use):
line buffer, Parallel Arc
region default, geometric andvisual centroid
,
region geometric properties,
median line , reverse line.
smart
centroid and aligned
labels are provided on a trial basis.

|
Select all landmarks within a range ( )
of the Pacific Hwy in the window. In this example, the combine qualifier
treats the Pacific Hwy as a single object prior to applying the buffers.

|
  |
Merge qualifier supports
square ends and median line ends in addition to
the standard buffers during proximity (within distance) operator
query. Direction qualifier produces half-buffer versions. |

|
Ad-hoc Proximity Query
In
this example Within Beyond Distance operator will match
any object which falls within the buffer on the Northern side
of selected table2 objects.
intersect sub-query.
direction qualifier

|
The red shaded and filled objects match in
the example :

|
Touches Ends
operator will match any object which touches the end of another object.
|

In the example, the shaded objects have been selected as disjoint.
|
Disjoint Operator
The disjoint operator will find all objects which do not touch or intersect any
other.

Labelling Solutions
Label Visibility
Re-Map
Point label hidden by overlapping labels in higher priority layer
shifted to free space.
|

|
Point label overlapping other points.
|

|
Point label overlapping other linear features.
|

|
Region label overlapping other features. Shifted to visual
centroid.
